Skype doesn't appear in panel after launching?
After the latest update manager was run. Skype no longer appears in my panel when launched. A window opens to log in, but if I close that window skype disappears instead of minimizing to the panel like it used to. When I click the launcher it tells me there is another instance of skype running. (oh really?) Where?
TIA |
do you mean notification tray?
i think that is going to be abandoned by ubuntu |

I figured this out
Ubuntu 10.04 does not have the "notification area" added to the top panel by default. To see your skype instance (and probably some other stuff) right click on the top panel, click "Add to panel" and choose "Notification Area". Ba boom.
I think they are trying to replace it with "Indicator Applet" which works for some programs (like Transmission) |

The Indicator applet as far as I can tell only gives you an icon for evolution and volume control... can you add to it? Thank you, just what I needed! |
