ok i just downloaded skype and its a .deb and i managed to make it say

kriogenic@Kriogenic:~/Desktop/stuff$ sudo dpkg -i skype_1.2.0.11_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 58007 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace skype 1.2.0.18-1 (using skype_1.2.0.11_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement skype ...
Setting up skype (1.2.0.11) ...
kriogenic@Kriogenic:~/Desktop/stuff$

but nothing was settup, is there like a set directory it goes 2?

yeah sorry about that i will stop doing it.. i still need the help tho lol

EDIT: ROFL! i got annoyed with the gnome panel so i went into terminal and typed
Code:
killall gnome-panel
and it refreshed (or sumfin like that) the panel and now skype is in there... i neverknew killall was a terminal command
