Single click logout in KDE?
Hi,
I am using Slackware with KDE 2.1.1, and am trying to create a shortcut on the desktop that will log out and return to the KDE login manager, without having to go through 'End KDE Session?' confirmation. I have tried using 'telinit 4', but this will only work in root, and I am unsure if it is safe to change the permissions of init and telinit. Is there any other way? Thanks |
Do you just want to click and leave KDE? Do you not want to confirm logout and save session?
If this is the case, go to KDE Control Center ---> select System ---> select K session manager ---> untick the appropriate box. Hope this helps. |
save session
Hi,
what does "save session" do anyway, or am I acting like a too big newbie now. thanks |
Thanks esteeven, but I was looking fo a way to logout from a shortcut on the desktop (I'm setting up Linux for my mum, so everything needs to be accessable from a single click on the desktop). I think I'll have to change the permissions for telint so it can be run by a user.
Save sessions will restore native KDE apps to the state they were in when you logged out next time you login. |
There is an option Confirm logout in K->Control Center->Session as it was pointed by esteeven, just uncheck it and apply changes, after that you can just click start->logout and you're done. And if it is one click action you need there is a logout button on your KDE panel just click it, I see no difference if it is accessable from desktop or panel.
