simple question

:newbie:

i feel like an idiot, but i'm running slack 9 and i can't find the gnome control center....the applications menu/desktop preferences has some stuff, but i want to change the applications menu itself and i can't figure out how to do that.

anyone feel like taking pity?

might be a cd error from install, might be that you did not do full install and screwed it up:

possible solution:
mount the cd rom in terminal (mount /dev/cdrom)
go to /mnt/cdrom/slackware/gnome(might not be gnome, might be g or gversion etc)
in directory type: installpkg ./*.tgz

that will install every gnome package.

do you know what directory it should be in?

go to terminal and use tab completion to find it (type portion of what you are looking for, press tab twice first time gives system beep, second time gives list of posibilities)
type:
gnome(tab)(tab)
look through list
see if there is anything with gnome and control or something, if so type it in terminal to use it.

thanks exodist, that worked. unfortunately it didn't help. i'm trying to configure the drop-down menu when i click on the gnome foot icon, so i can add programs i've installed myself etc. does anyone know how to do that?

right click on it go to menu options, I use enlgithenment, might be better for you, www.enlightenment.org d-load 16.5 nto 17. you run it and it has no menu's, click anywhere to open a menu that you specifiy ina text file, also has access to gnome menu's, and add a program, add it to text file boom in menu.
