Simple Linux just for text display from an NAS storage?

I have the intention of using an old Lenovo Thinkpad X60 as a remote display showing drawings and instructions stored in an NAS. Information flows one way only, Thinkpad will have no printer or internet connection. No software needed except file explorer.

So - please give me your expert opinion; what Linux distro would be my best choice.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

My Thinkpad X31 works perfectly with Salix. The installer allows you to select a minimal installation (CLI only) or a basic installation (GUI but no applications). Salix is Slackware with added dependency control and extra software, so it's very reliable.
