Simple LAN how-to for RH9?
 

I am trying to establish a LAN between my RH9 box and WinXP box. My configuration is pretty simple. I have two NIC in the linux box. One connects to a cable router and then the cable modem. The other NIC is to connect to the WinXP box, through a hub.

I have reviewed various how-to's but find that they are too technical, or refer to earlier versions of RH.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Those references are helpful, and will be needed when I get to the point of setting up SAMBA. However, I am still trying to get the two computers to "see" each other and be able to ping each other.

Any ideas of a RH9 compatible how-to for configuring the network?

I have same config than you. Both machines would be able to see each other (ping) but if you want to see them within the same network as you do in My Network undeer Wni XP you gotta set up samba. Check out if it is installed and runnig.
