shutting down from kde

I've just installed debian(sarge) and kde 3.3. How do I configure the kicker menu to include a shutdown button? Right now it only lets me logoff.

thanks!

I have used KDE in Redhat Linux 9 and I'm unable to configure a shutdown in the menu. However, I use the command

shutdown now

for shutting down directly from kde.

(Please refer man page of shutdown for appropriate use)

DO you run kde from runlevel 3 using startx?
If you change it to runlevel 5 ( or whatever the graphical runlevel is in Debian), and use kdm , the logout button will be promting a window, were you may choose to shutdown/restrat the PC.

Thats because Redhat is a gnome-based distro and use the gnome display manager by default. If you change the display manager to kdm then you will be able to shutdown from KDE.

I wasn't using KDM.

"apt-get install kdm" fixed the problem.

thanks for the help.
