Question Shutdown in Login prompt

A few weeks ago my friend shutdown a linux (I dont know which version) at the login prompt. As in he type, "login: shutdown". I tried it in FreeBSD 6.1 but it doesn't work. I just wanna ask how you can shutdown FreeBSD in the login prompt. Is there any configurations needed?
