Question Should I Use The VI prog to change an File


I can't just get this one, should i choose the vi command to change for an expample the XF86Config file???

What commands should i use to change this file???
To write save and so on....

There is a lot of documentation on vi on the web, just search on google. Yeas, it's safe to use it, but make sure you are comfortable with it and you know what you are doing. I persoanlly use emacs, but I am comfortable with vi as well coz most rescue disks tend to use vi and not emacs.

You can check if you have vimtutor installed or have a look at: http://www.tuxfiles.org/linuxhelp/vimcheat.html
OTOH you might want to use an easier editor like mcedit or nano.
