Should I install Linux on this notebook?

Hello, I would like to know your opinion if you would have any problem installing Linux on this notebook:

2.00GHz Intel Pentium T4200 processor 3 GB RAM Only what worries me is that he has a SIS MIRAGE 3 card.

If I install Linux what version do you recommend?

there are some reported issues with SIS MIRAGE 3 card

the simple approach is to boot a few candidates live from a usb stick ; you can put several linux iso's onto a single usb stick and boot any of them . See https://www.ventoy.net/en/index.html

the live linux os will be using your hardware so it will give a very good indication of what it would be like if you installed it. Some live linux OS also have a "install" icon the desktop once booted. eg Mint

If there are problems, they do appear to have solutions:
SiS graphics on Ubuntu

One can always roll with vesa till they get the sis thing sorted out .

Haveing a Sis chip is not a show stopper.

Since my IBM T23 laptop is full of them chips and runs AntiX just fine and dandy. ^^^^^
