should i downgrade my kernel? help please


i have problems with installing my nvidia drivers, should i downgrade my kernel which is 2.4.20-8 because the kernel nvidia is looking for is 2.4.18

sounds like you dont have your kernel source installed.

if the nvidia.run file does not have a precompiled driver for you, if compiles one on the fly.
you need your kernel source and gcc installed.

anyway.... if you are having problems with hardware support, you should UPGRADE !
not downgrade... there are very few reasons to downgrade.

just get the new kernel sources or the existing will also do

check if anyone supports ur driver
and upgrade...
it will surely work

i can't install the kernel sources using tar.gz but i have the error tried to work out with the IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH. btw how can i get that kernel?
