Shortcut-key problem on KDE (file permissions related)

Hi, I'm Ivan! I'm a newbie so, please, be patient.

I hope that someone has a solution for my problem: I use RH 9. In KDE, I set up a shortcut-key to invoke /usr/sbin/kppp (through the Menu Editor).

/usr/sbin/kppp and /usr/sbin/pppd has the following permissions:
Owner: root
Group: modemusers
SUID and SGID are both ON

User ivan belongs to modemusers.
When I launch kppp with the shortcut everything is OK (I can use my browser, and so on... ) BUT the keyboard doesn't work (the mouse is the only thing I can use!). It seems like all my keystrokes are queued. By the time I quit from kppp all my keystrokes are processed. Moreover, the following message appears:

kdeinit could not launch '/usr/sbin/kppp'

When I launch /usr/sbin/kppp through Run Command... the problem is absent.

Thank you very much
Ivan
