Shockwave on Mozilla
 

I'm currently taking a corse in Linux at a tech school. For somereason or another, no seems to be able to get shockwave, not even the teacher. is it the verizon we're using? Please help. The flavor we have is SuSE 9 enterprise edition, KDE shell, with Mozilla from GNOME installed. The verzion of Mozzila is 6.7 Every time one of us goes to a site that uses shockwave, it directs us to Adobe.com and tells us to download flashplayer. I personally have downloaded every available option, tar.gz, rpm, YUM and one other. even when we extract the tar ball we can't install. I figured out that's becasue the flash player supports only Mozilla 1.7.+ and we run 1.6.7 So we needed either an older verzion of adobe flash, a shockwave plugin of the older mozilla, or update mozilla. My problem is that I can't seem to update mozilla or find an older verizon of adobe that's not for windows (I found plenty older verzions for windows) and I can find absolutly nothing about an older shockwave for mozilla that's compatable with linux(also, tons for windows) or none that are for Mozilla only. We've also tried downlaoding FireFox and SeaMonkey to use as our web browser, but even though it gets downloaded, and we can connect to the internet through it, it's not being recognized as a browser. Does anyone know how to fix any or all of these problems?

There is no Shockwave for Linux, you can install it using CrossOver Office and perhaps wine, but there is no native method of using it.

If you mean Flash it runs just fine.

ok, then, flash. but the newest flash isn't compatable with the Mozilla verizion we are running, and I can't seem to update mozilla to a verizon that is compatable with thre newest flash player, and I can't find an older verzion of flashplayer that is compatable with linux to get instead.

Yes, I saw that in my search. Unfortunatly, When you look at the operation systems it supports they are only for windows products. anything that supports linux? or perhaps where I can download Mozilla 1.7.x? but then I still can't get SuSE to regognize it as a web browser....

Doesnt Suse use Yast to install packages?

Yes, but for some reason, installing with YaST isn't an option. usually when you finish downloading = an rmp, one of the options when you view it or right click the file is "Install with YaST" but while flash has that option, the install failed because it's not backward compatable, and when I download Mozilla 1.7(no longer supported) it doesn't give you the option to install with YaST. in fact, it's even allowing you to install it as a regular user! I don't know about othr Linux flavors, but to do ANYTHING regaurding changes or installations in SuSE, you have to at least be a Super User. What the heck?
