shell command's don't recognize
 

Hi everyone

I have a problem in RehHat 6.3, i don't know what happen but several command's simply don't work, what I can do to solve this problem? and what logs I could check to prevent this problem?

would be nice to explain exactly what commands did you try and what does "simply don't work" really mean?

Did they work before? If not, they may be root user only programs.

Hi everyone,

After this post, I found the problem, it was related to some commands in /usr/bin was empty, I check some logs in the /var/log, but apparentely I dont see any who justify that, do you know any way to find the root cause of this.

We wouldn't be able to assist you unless you tell us what exactly the issue you are facing? Simply mentioning that something doesn't work will not give us any idea on what the issue is. You said that you checked the logs but apparently didn't see anything. If you wouldn't share the logs how would we suppose to know what is going on?

Whenever you posting a question it is always a good idea to mention as much information as you can so that other people will be able assist you accordingly.

Sorry, right now I'm not facing any issue, I just want to understand what problem could happen to some files in /usr/bin were empty, I can't find any in logs of /var/log to justify this. I solved this problem quickly by copy from another environment, and substitute the empty files.

Files under /usr/bin are binary files, so am not sure what you mean when you say those were empty. Are you saying that those files were not at all there under /usr/bin? If that is the case then it will be good to know who else has got access to this system? The files will not disappear all of a sudden just like that.
