Unhappy Shell (Back) to GNOME

Total newbie here. Just installed Mandrake 10.1 (Mandriva . . . or whatever). Anyhoooo, just unchecked the "automatically load graphical interface" box in Mandrake's control panel (no good reason) and on re-boot got basic shell logon script.

Would like to know how to load / activate GNOME 2.6 again. Many thanks . . . sorry for annoying newbie question.

You could try logging in and then executing "gdm", or "startx" to start the gnome session directly, on the commandline.
