Share mail between clients...

Hi everyone,

I am currently using Thunderbird which gets my mail on my ISP POP server. I am looking for a way to share my mails between Thunderbird and mutt (in order to be able to have a look at my mail even if I can't use an X environment.

By the way, if anyone knows a good introduction to mail services in linux environment, it might prove helpful to me.

Thank you,
Xavatar

You could have them share the same mbox formatted files, but this is probably a bad idea (I don't think they can read each other's status flags, for example. And imagine if they wrote to the file at the same time!)

I'd set up an IMAP server on your machine. (Block connections from the network if you want.) Then any imap-supporting client can read your mail. I recommend Dovecot.

Thank you both of you.

I set up Dovecot and it's working fine with Squirrelmail, thunderbird & mutt. I couldn't manage to get Cyrus working (some authentification problems).
