Several questions of linux possibilities from a newbie
Could someone answer on these questions I am interesting in now moving from Windows?
+ Is it possible to automatically mount/unmount an USB flash? + Does linux have common clipboard? I heard there was problems with it + Is it possible to automatically copy text selected in a terminal into the clipboard? ? Could I have separate current input language for each application? Earlier, in RedHat, changing keyboard language from English to Russian I get any application changed their input language also. Is it unbreakable linux feature or it could be fixed? My distr is Debian Sarge Thanks |

With most distributions you can highlight text somewhere, reposition the cursor, click the middle mouse-button, and it magically pastes.
KDE has a very nice "Klipboard" clipboard-history tool. So yes, there is a clipboard (and USB support), and it works extremely well. |
application
Hi,
Do you remember which is the name of the application you used to switch input languages? When I use KDE the keyboard option in preferences work fine but if I am in GNOME the accents (I am spanish speaker) go first than the vowels and they should be on top. I know there is an application but unfortunately I reinstalled my system and now I do not remember the name. Do you remember the name of the utility you used in RedHat? Thanks, |

I don't have problems cutting and pasting in the terminal on my Debian Sarge machine. You highlight the text and copy then right click to paste the text.

GNOME is the DE with the clipboard problem. If you close an app, then you can't paste text you had already selected to another app. I am not sure whether GNOME 2.12 fixes this issue because the features state that there is a new clipboard utility.
