settings in knoppix

I have been trying over the past couple of months to get my sound working with Slackware current. I have posted a couple of times in these forums but as yet have had no success.

I recently, out of interest, tried one of the live distros - knoppix.

This is fully functional in terms of sound and video, at last i can play the music stored on my hard drive
:)

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how i can find out the settings etc used in knoppix so i can try to get the sound working in my normal distro.

Thanks.

(still cant get the photos off my camera tho )

Most distros provide a tool to configure sound. I do not know Knoppix, you can try the utility sndconfig, from a command prompt. I think you need to be logged as root.

It should open a gui tool from the command line. Most sound cards need to be configured for an I/O address and IRQ.
