Setting up Xandros to send email with Mambo

So I have Mambo set up on my web server, which is running Xandros 3.0

Now there's an issue with registration. When a user registers with my website, there's SUPPOSED to be an email automatically sent out to that user to verify that the email is a valid one, and then they click on a link that brings them back to my site to let my server know that it's all good.

Now of all that little scenario, there's no email being sent out. None. Nadda.

Now my guess is that there's no email because I haven't up Xandros to be an email server.

Then again... It might not. But I'll place moneyon the fact that it's not set up.

So now we run into my next issue. I know next to nothing about Linux. I am a programmer as well as a network engineer. But Linux still eludes me. So compiling at the command line and running through a 1000 line config file is WAY beyond me.

SO... Now that my life's sotry is out... Can anyone point me in a good direction to where I can find some info to fix this? I tried searching with Google, but I can't seem to find anything other than reviews for Xandros. Which are useless to me.

So yeah.... thanks for any help...

Humn.. IIRC Mambo has a setting in its preferences to select an external SMTP server for carrying out the mail. If this isnt the case, then any generic php with sendmail tutorial / howto is what you might want ot be searching for.

When dealing with systems that arnt unique to a distribution, the choise of distribution rarely has any effect on the process of configuring it for your needs. The install might vary abit, but youll most likely get to the end with a generic howto aswell..
