setting up Wireless networking on mandrake 10.1
 

ok i'm very new to linux, also a slooow learner can anyone give detailed instructions on how to setup up my wireless network on Mandrake 10.1? I've gotten so far as to get Ndiswrapper installed that came with the distro. i also have the newest version of Ndiswrapper saved on desktop. I have the drivers for my USB device saved on desktop. I'm using WUSB54G to connect to WRT54G
router. I understand command line instructions i just dont know all of them like how to move files from one folder to next and what not. Please help i swear i'm not stupid just slow to learning. and i cant seem to get this straight.
using xp right now trying to use linux played with knoppix and decided to install a distro so i just picked a distro. Thanks in advance for any help.:newbie:

So you have wireless working with ndiswrapper? Once connected to the router you can browse the web using an internet browser.. it would be easier to answer ur question if you could ask specific questions.
man <name of instruction> will tell you everything about any instructions you wanna know more about

Some pieces missing from your question:
* Do you have an existing wireless network you are trying to access?
* Do you think the problem is hardware related, ie you don't think linux is working with your network card?
* Is this a software/navigation issue where you just need to know how to adjust settings?

Using KDE, try going to Mandrake Control Center (Start menu, System, Configuration, Configure your Computer). Select Network & Internet, then choose the Manage Connections icon. You can manually insert the SSID of your wifi network there if you think you have a signal.
You can also use KiFi to see if you even are detecting a signal.

I have a existing wireless network. in windows if thats what you mean. but it is not working in linux i dont know if i hav ethe correct drivers installed. i go to Mandrake Control Center and try and add new Connection, i get lost from there.
so in answer to your question yes i dont think my my network card is working with linux.
and yes i also need to know how to adjust settings.

having problems getting my wireless up and running on manrdake 10.1 too. it detects my wireless card in the control centre but i still cant connect to my wireless network. i have a mac address filter set up on my router but this works fine in windows so unless my mac address changes between windows and linux then that must be where im going wrong. i have run iwconfig and got the following output:
