Setting up shorewall!!!
 

Hey there i am on a university lan connection using Mandrake 9.1. I need to set up a firewall i tried setting up shorewall but it stops my internet from working. Furthermore i would then like to ntwork a windows 98 machine to my mandrake machine to only shar fils with the linux machine and be able to connct to the internet. Help

I have set up my security as standard and have set shorewall to allow the internet connect to nothing (no boxes checked).

I can remember at some time setting the security higher (I don't think as high as paranoid but maybe) and my internet stopped working.

I think I am secure (but please, anybody, correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't have experience of networking but am interested to see what responses you get because I think there will be another computer in the house soon, and I will be sharing cable access.
