setting up pppoe configuration in suse 10.2

I have a broadband connection with a Huawei Quidway WA1003A modem/router connected through Ethernet port on eth0,which works well in windows, but i want to setup this in my suse linux 10.2, i have tried wvdial but that gives me error /dev/modem not found , then i tried "pppd call pppoe" at terminal but that is also giving error, now please if somebody can tell me how to configure network card and dialup for my pppoe connection in suse 10.2 , i would like to dial the connection manually each then to rather have a always on connection.
also i am getting two ip address for my Ethernet card one is 127.0.0.1 and the other which i configured as 192.168.1.2 .
then my modem ip is 192.168.1.1 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, which also i want to give manually to the modem.
