Setting up Fedora 14 as an openLdap Server

Hello All

I am new to the Linux world coming from Microsoft AD. I am trying to set up a Fedora 14 Box as an openLdap Server that can authenticate my Windows and Linux clients. Could any one help me with a detailed step by step white paper to achieve the following.

1. Successfully install my openLdap Software
2. Configure my slapd.cong file
3. Setup up SSL/TLS
3. Configure ldap.conf
4. Create my users and groups and OU's
5. Authenticate to my openLdap.

I have a rough idea on some of the steps but i have not got it to work at all.
A detaailed whitepaper would be most appreciated as the help i am getting online is really complicated for a novice.

Many Thanks

Simukai

Fedora 14 is not supported & has a short time release schedule Centos however has longer support time. You may want longer support for a server.

Hi EDDY!

Hi:seamkai

The Fedora documentation should help-
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US...ll-server.html

Fedora 19 was just recently released.
http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-fedora-options#desktops

CentOS like EDDY1 said will have longer support.
https://www.centos.org/
http://wiki.centos.org/Download

Hope that helps; Good luck seamkai!

Welcome to LQ!

1. Fedora 14 is dead and Fedora is not really convenient for a server anyway: too changeable and experimental. Get CentOS.

2. There's masses of on-line documentation to tell you how to do things:
http://wiki.centos.org/
http://www.centos.org/docs/5/
http://www.openldap.org/

3. Never put your email address in a post, unless you hobby is collecting spam!

As above, forget Fedora and get latest Centos (6.4).
