Setting Up DNS Server

Hello,
I have registered a domain name "my-example.org.uk" and have only just installed Fedora Core3, not renamed the local host or domain or nothing, havent joined the company domain. The domain in use with all the pcs will be "workdomain" and samba is the PDC for it, on a different machine running fedora core 3. How do I, or what is the best way of setting up a DNS server for my-example.org.uk? i have BIND installed, along with caching server and the utils and also have system-config-bind packaged installed (dont know how to use it very well) I am completey new to domain stuff and the way it works and what nameservers are etc im new to it all so any instructions really need to be given very basic.
I get the idea of what a DNS does etc im not that stupid, ive read articled on it etc... i just dont understant all the configuring of the files, could anyone supply me with what I should put in the named.conf file? has someone got one completed for thier own DNS?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Steve

i'd suggest you don't try to use your own nameservers, you won't experience any benefit at all. first you have the issue of how the internet registered domain knows about your own network to start with (do you have a guarenteed static IP address you can register for example?) I would suggest using a free internet service like zoneedit.com which will allow you to easily administer a few DNS records in a way that can't come falling down if say, your IP was to change. If you want to do DNS solely for internal machines, i'd also suggest avoiding BIND as you've only got 3 nodes... somethign like dnsmasq can do everythgin you're going to require but so so so much easier and quicker.

ok, this is what I want to do:
I want to set up my own DNS server so I can add MX records to it etc, probably host a website and my DNS server resolves the address. I want to be able to administer it not a third party company.
Secondly I have more than 3 nodes... where did i say i only have three? There is an entire network in the company (in the samba domain called "workdomain")

could someone please supply me with an example configuration file or point me in the right direction as the above reply was of no use to me.

Thanks

What version of BIND? The config files are different between some of the versions...
