Question Setting-up Comcast HSI

Right now I have Fedora Core 3; and I normally use the wireless or ethernet connection I have on campus which it detects fine and works very well. However, I am back home now and I need to connect to Comcast HSI but I cannot figure out how to set it up.

Anyone have any solutions?

Thanks so much.

Danielle

comcast uses dhcp to get users connected, just plug in the network cable, then execute the command "dhcpc" , or some other dhcp client ..

I'm using FC3 and a default install with Comcast HSI. Connected directly to my router. When you insttall, make sure you use the DHCP option and it should install....

Hope this helps.

It won't recognize the dhcp command, and when I attempt to active the connection it says it cannot be activated.

Is it recognizing your ethernet card in System Tools > Internet Configuration WIzard? I personally would try an ethernet connection prior to trying to get wireless to work. It's a bit more tricky.

you sure it don't recognize it?

on checked with my computer, the dhcp client for it is "dhcpcd" ... just look for any command with the words "dhcp" in it ... without a client, you ain't gonna connect
