setting up auto proxy using DHCP-----------
hello sir,
We are a group of administartors trying to make auto proxy using DHCP.
We are having a DHCP server ( Redhat 7 based ).
Then we have another machine which is WINNT Proxy server.
All the clients(including the WINNT proxy machine) are getting the IP address from the DHCP server.
At present to access the internet from any client machine, we have to give manually the IP address of Proxy server in the browser settings of respective client.
But our requirement is that the clients should automatically detect Proxy to access the internet.
We had gone through a lot of documentation . we had seen that some file like WPAD,PAC file is required for that.
One kind member of the forum suggested as putting the following in the /etc/dhcpd.conf file
option wpad-url code 252 = text;
option wpad-url "http://wpad.xxxx.com/wpad.dat;
But we are getting an error that "there is no option named wpad"
when we start the dhcpd service.
We had not downloaded any file named wpad OR .pac
Can anyone tell us a detail step by step procedure to build a auto proxy using DHCP in Redhat 7.
thanks for reading with patience
