Setting up an email server

Hello all,

My company has been having problems with our third parties email service. Too many times have they stopped the service with no warning. This would be about OK if we was just receiving a few company emails, but we also receive important data packets through it. Without these packets our clients loose information.
So that we are in full control over the mail, we have decided to host our own email server.
Lets say our current domain is abc.com. All mail is going to that domian name. We also have the domain name def.com but this is not used for mail.
After changing the email addresses how can we configure a server to be fixed to the internet and receive the emails. We have got a fixed link already for we host the abc.com website over it.
Our current email server is SuSE Email II. This picks the mail up from our third party.

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for reading

Chris Mitchell
