Setting up an email server

Hi guys

I currently have a number of domain names that are hosted else where currently and I'm looking to set up my own Linux box at home connected to the internet via my broadband connection with a number of features, one of which is an email server which can then be used by a number of users, myself, my girlfriend and her son. I want to set up anti spam (spamassassin) and AntiVirus (ClamAV) but I'm getting stuck.

I can set up the email server so that the clients can both send emails to the email server and retrieve email from the server, but I'm not getting any mail to or from the internet. How do I configure my domain emails to come in to my email server that I have set up at home?

Are the domain's MX records pointing to the right place?
