Setting up a new Office !!
I have been assigned to setup a new office.I will be responsible for administrating an office network with around 50 users, which would grow to 150 users in a year.I need suggestions about what plan I need to make before starting up with the project. I need help with Network Setup? What kind of network IP I need to setup.
Any tutorial which talks about the Simple Network Setup for 200 users. Though I am an Application Support Engineer, I want to take this responsibilty and challenge. I am sure yu guys would suggest me. |
Hi,
You're in for a challenge then. Depending on your budget I'd suggest you start making a list of what services you need for your users and how you will provide for those services (internal own servers, external, ...). Next on the list you'll need to note what network infrastructure you want to set up. Are you going to administer a Windows domain with Active Directory and Windows desktops? Do you already have a Group Policy and Internet Policy lined out? There are so many things that you have to take into account if you want to set it up correct and easy to administer. A badly configured and set up network needs a lot of time and man hours to administer and maintain at a good functional level. A good preparation is half the work. Take it one step at the time and don't rush into it because you'll forget things and fail for sure. Kind regards, Eric |
I agree with EricTRA on several levels. My mantra has long been
Quote:
"Features" enable business processes that yield those benefits. "Software" implements those features. "Hardware" provides and environment for software execution. A corollary to this mantra says: Quote:
Good luck! Please consider a blog or other e-journal of your efforts. This will make a wonderful deployment story and you can look back and laugh years after the fact. Cheers, ~~~ 0;-Dan |

damgar,
You are welcome. You can wrap another blanket to an oldman this winter by clicking that blue thumbs up button at the right side. I will be the one to thank you for doing that favor. Ha ha :) Happy New Year ahead. |
