Setting up a mail server?

Ok, I'm not sure where to start....I have a hand-me-down PC that I just put Fedora Core 3 onto. I have ADSL here in my house, and thought it would be really cool to have my own little mail server. I was wondering how I would go about this...A full fledged mail server (personal of course, but I mean incoming & outgoing mail) would be ideal.

Where would I start?

Thanks a lot!!

RE: Setting up a mail server?

Well speaking from experience (a FC1 system), I can say that qmailrocks has been an invaluable resource to me. It has step by step instructions on how to set up a qmail server with virus protection and spam filters. As far as I know it only has instructions up to Fedora Core 2, but it shouldn't be all that different for FC3.

The major roadblock here is going to be that your ISP may have port 25 blocked (but there are ways around this).

Register a domain, set up DNS, Install Postfix and then read the docs.

Easy, right?
