Setting up a dual boot box
I am currently running a few computers through a KVM box. My primary system is currently totally devoted to Win2k Pro - which I don't mind having on that box - but I believe I have about 20GB of HDD space on my 80GB drive (partitioned into 10GB chunks) which I could free up for Linux use. This system is running a Celeron 1.7GHz processor with 256MB of PC133 RAM - basically far superior to the PII 255 with 128MB of PC100 that is currently running my RH8.0 distro.
The question I have for the gurus out there is should I attempt to install Mandrake (downloading now) onto this space (does this put my Win2k system at risk) or should I put my RH distro in that space (since I kinda know what's going on there) and put the Mandrake (totally new OS for me) on the PII? Just to muddy the waters a bit, I'm running Samba on the RH machine and using part of that space as network storage for my Win2k box. :( :Pengy: :D |
i dunno. with 20 gigs of free space, you could set aside 10 gigs for each distro and have a multi-boot box. but as far as this goes, it's still your choice.
