setmode(8b06) error in my atheros card


hi i am new here and also to fedora ... i want to connect my laptop with other laptop but wen i try conecting my device,it is showing inactive, till before it was active....also wen i am try to activate it .it is showing
SETMODE(8B06) invalid argument atho...


i am using a atheros card.

can anyone help me out in this issue.
