service nfs cannot be changed from off

services nfs, ypbind cannot switched on. when i run service nfs start i see all teh ok's displayed, but when i reun chkconfig --list, nfs appears as off.

anhy ideas?

you need to do a
chkconfig nfs on

#however if you want to specify the run levels run this

chkconfig --level 35 nfs on

#that makes is so that nfs runs in run level 3 and 5

thks a lot, it helped. i have a few more questions on the subject of network connectivity and i wonder if i coukd email you my problems? its about not being able to connect with a NIS server.
