Server OS/Redhat/Linux/Apache ????

Hello folks,

I have a question regarding servers to run a website.

I have heard of:
Apache Linux
Apache Red Hat (Linux/SUSE)

But I do not know what the difference is, I am hoping to find out what can be installed on these systems e.g. PHP, Data bank, perl, Python, and what the differences are on the software.
I am doing research for a website that I want to run, but before I can start I would like to find out what Forums, CMS, are compatible and which offer the smallest security risks when properley developed.

I know this is basic stuff but I would appreciate some help on finding the Information that I need

can anybody help??

I have never heard of a ditribution called "Apache Linux" or "Apache Red Hat (Linux/SUSE)". This sounds like a terminology issue mostly.

There is a piece of software called "Apache" that provides webserver functionality. This server can run on linux, probably about any linux you want to run it on. So, you can run Apache on top of RedHat, Gentoo, SuSe, etc. However, AFAIK there is no such thing as "Apache Linux" or similar. All linux distributions should support PHP, Perl, Python, and most other web features one would want. If I were you I would just use RedHat and try to get Apache installed and running. RedHat is common, and you can probably find a good bit of help online with it.

Redhat is a company that makes the Redhat Enterprise Linux Operating System, SUSE is a Linux based operating system from NOVELL.

The company seems to be mainly using web servers running Redhat Enterprise Linux but they have one running SUSE Linux.
