server


i installed Mandrake Linux 9.1 bamboo and all the server stuff. i was just wondering how to cinfigure it to act as a web, FTP, DNS, and mail server

That's a tall request....

For the webserver type man httpd at the command line and visit www.apache.org

for DNS type man bind and visit http://www.isc.org/index.pl?/sw/bind/

for the mail server type man sendmail (if you want to use sendmail) and visit www.sendmail.org

I forgot what's installed on Mandrake for the ftp server. Probably wuftp, vsftpd or something else. You get the idea.

i tried but the command line said they werent known codes

Oh, well maybe you didin't install the man program. Did you do a full install. I know that Mandrake comes with all sorts of How-To files. You may go back and install those if you can. If none of that works, then go to the websites. You can also find man pages through google. Also searching google helps. You can usually find a how-to for all those.
