Separate XServer for Games Ubuntu 13.04

I am running Ubuntu 13.04 64bit and I currently play games on it such as Half Life 1/2 and CSS. I want to get the most performance out of my games and I read that creating/running a server xserver for fullscreen games improves performance however I have no idea how to do this. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

First choose a mirror than to and get packages X11 Server, X term and X host.
The B at the top of the colum is binary and S is for source.

Here's a good video.

Hope that helps.
