separate /boot partition, why?
Many linux distrs install /boot to a separate partition, why? Is any benefit in separate partition?

I'm not sure but there could be a couple of reasons:
1. easier restoration if your linux install gets damaged, 2. necessity for lvm set up(unless you use grub2), 3. faster system boot if set up with ext2. |
