sendmail trouble

Sendmail does not start. I've just found the following in 'var/log/messages'
Jul 12 22:25:58 sashko sendmail:
Jul 12 22:25:58 sashko sendmail:
Jul 12 22:25:58 sashko sendmail: sendmail startup failed
Jul 12 22:25:58 sashko sendmail: /etc/mail/ line 525: fileclass: cannot open '/etc/mail/trusted-users': World writable directory
Jul 12 22:25:58 sashko sendmail: sm-client startup failed
'/etc/mail/trusted-users' is on its usual place, and I dont know what is the problem.
Help me please, how can I make it work?

My guess is, given your error message is that /etc/mail is world writable. :-) Have you checked, perhaps? You can tell with a "ls -ld /etc/mail", BTW.
