Sendmail connection refused by host

Hi,
Is the following sendmail scenario possible? If yes, what modification(s)
should be made, in order to work?

system1 with host1 - where the sendmail is executed
system2 with host2 - where the destination email address is stored

When trying to sendmail from host1 to an email address stored on host2
but with the format username@host1, the sendmail service returns Connection refused by host1
Thanks

Hi,

The email address username@host1 means that the user exists on host1.
The fact that you get a "connection refused" from host1, means that sendmail is not running, or it's not listening for connections on the IP address of host1.
If you have sendmail running on host2 what you're trying to do is not possible.

Regards
