sending messages in a linux base LAN


Can anyone tell me is there is anything like "netsend"(windows command) in linux? to send message in the LAN.

I presume you mean to another user. If that's the case there's talk see an explaination here: or you could always set up a Jabber server and have your own internal Instant Messenger system. Read more about Jabber here:
