Selecting different desktops
Hello peeps
I have a question for you all about changing desktops. At the moment I am running FC10 on a very old laptop, and I would like to try some different window managers. At the moment I am running gnome, but I want to try some other managers, like xfce, kde etc etc in the hope of making the laptop run faster. Now, I can hear a big sigh from you all, but please don't shout at me! I have installed a few window managers on the machine, but I can't work out how to select them. all the forum questions I have seen about this, all state, install the new manager, and then select the new one from the sessions manager on the log in screen. I have tried this, but I just don't have any option to select a different session. My guess is that the session manager did not install?? I have checked the folder /usr/share/xsessions and all of the session managers are installed in there, but i don't get the option to use one of them What do i need to do??? thanks in advance P. |
Did you tried
#switchdesk KDE |
Not yet, but I will do when I get home
is there anyway I can put the session manager option on the log in screen? I'd like to be able to select a different one, so I can try a few and pick the fastest for my machine |
