If the executable file, build with mex / Matlab on Ubuntu
makes the error on Ubuntu :

Make sure, that the Matlab install works with other files.
And, that the 'Matlab' itself works on other Linux's.

And that this particular program ( mex file ) will build
and run on another Linux.
( If the 'mex' was build on Windows, do not expect it to
work on Linux.)

Else : Fix the source file, not to make segmentation fault.

I'm not sure what versions of Matlab exist for Linux. I just know about problems we had with mex files in Matlab in Linux. These might or might not be relevant to the OP's problem.

We switched from gcc 3.2.3 to later versions (initially 3.4.6) and rebuilt mex files, which then didn't work. The version of Matlab we are using in Linux apparently is compatible with mex files built with gcc 3.2.3 but not with later versions.

This is not necessarily (or even likely) an issue of the compiler itself. More likely it is an issue in the includes and libs used with the compiler to build the mex file. We take a version of gcc as a whole package, a version of the compiler as well as associated version of all the includes and libs you need to make and run programs.
