The script DSR-50nodes.tcl ( Or the identical DSR-50nodes-2013.tcl )
... runs OK with the most Linux OS`s.
DSR-50nodes.tcl, see "all_tcl-examples-2.tar.gz"

Your errors : An Ubuntu OS is not necessarily ns2 friendly.
Ubuntu 12.04 ? Which version ? 32bits or 64bits ?

http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
... I.e. your OS must be specified for every question.

Good alternatives to Ubuntu :
CentOS 6.6 - 32bits, PCLinuxOS2015 - 32bits, Slackware - 32bits.

Re #3, #2
""not ns2 friendly"" is an OS that fails with a lot of simulations.
I.e. simulations which will work OK every time with e.g. CentOS, PCLinuxOS.
