Well, as I said: worst case scenario for me is to reinstall the whole system. But I thhink I defer that as long as possible in order to avoid having to re-install all programmes. That would be a bit of a hassle due to the fact that Ive got just a web-stick as sole internet-connection....
In the meantime Ill keep an eye on error-messages in syslog and look how things develop.

You said that you had been making system images. Why don't you save your data and then roll back to one of those images?

Hi hydrurga,

good suggestion. I was also thinking along these lines. However it seems to be of no avail in this particular case.
The thing is: I backup my system once a month and keep the last two backups.
So the backup reaching farthest into the past is about 2 months old.

I have become aware of the segfault-issue only recently but am convinced that the occasional segfault-incident occurred even before. At the time I was thinking nothing of it.
So my backups wont help me here. Yeah, its a shame.

But thanks nevertheless.
