Secure Boot Question
 

I have a home built computer with an Idex 400 switch. The computer has 4 different hard drives with 4 operating systems: 3 Linux and Windoze 7. I want to change 7 to a fresh install of 10. My worry is that 10 will change the bios and add the Windoze Secure Boot and that will make my Linux distros unbootable. Anyone know if this would happen? Thanks.

No, Windows doesn't enable secure boot itself. If it's not enabled currently, then it will not change upon installing 10. However, secure boot, IN THEORY, would be good if a trustworthy company was the one who managed the keys (IE, not Microsoft). Although as is, yeah, I see no reason to ever leave secure boot enabled, since having M$ handle the keys means it's about as secure as an open door.

Windows 7 > Windows 10, IMHO.

But to answer your question, unless your computer is UEFI, it can't just add Secure Boot. Your computer either already has that option or it doesn't and it is en/disabled from your BIOS

I upgraded to Windoze 10 and it did not change the BIOS. Thank you for your reply.
