second distro install
I have read listings in here about using lvm and grub to install a second distro - ubuntu < for me. I searched on mandrake 10 and it has grub installed. I am a little lost, can I use mandrake control center console to input the codes?
When I start man10 there doesn't seem to be an alternative other than linux, floppy and couple of others from which to load. As in one thread I did burn a copy gparted/livecd, but will have to read the pages about it. When searching for the /dev/hda - I only find hda0 0, to add second distro, I would need to establish another /dev/hda - 1,2,etc? Now the MBR - main boot record? that's where hda0 0 is right? Others speak of creating hda6,7 - but if this one is starting at 0 wouldn't the logical next be hda1 or 2,3? < this reminds me of a gateway range from 192.168.1 to 152. Only with your help and understanding will this make sense |
Ditch the LVM if you want more distros. The idea of LVM is it manages/eats up all your hard disk space because you have given it the permission to do so.
