SDL not found?

hey im installing software that needs SDL 1.2

anyways, i isntalled that, it's in but i get this error while ./configure

checking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** The sdl-config script installed by SDL could not be found
*** If SDL was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the SDL_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to sdl-config.
configure: error: SDL >= 1.2.0 is required

How do i fix this error?

how did you install sdl?

it was an RPM

so rpm -U SDL-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm

you'll need the matching -devel rpm, should be something like SDL-1.2.8-devel-xxxxxxxxx

don't forget that rpm distro's split thier libraries, you might need a few more -devel packages depending on what the app you want to compile needs to link with.
