SCSI issues.....i think?
Hey guys, im new here so please bear with me. i recently aquired an old server from my school that the teach was giving away, its an HP Netserver 5/100 LM, its got a 1 gb SCSI HD and SCSI CDROM, now, i have mandrake boot disk and the iso's on cd. i cannot boot to cdrom because for some reason i cant get into the bios.
so i pop in the floppy, all goes well i tell it my SCSI adapter drivers (adaptec 777x, which ive checked is supported) and it loads the program into memory....then it starts second stage installation, then says 'installation exited abnormally :-(' and proceeds to unmount the drives. and then says i can restart. whats causing this? its mandrake 8.2 and i cannot boot to cdrom, would using a different distro solve my prob? only kind of user input ive done is selected the SCSI drivers. any questions / comments welcome. TIA. i hope to stick around -Kmistry |
If you switch to one of the other consoles (read: press F1-->F6) during install (or as far as you get), you might be able to find out what is causing the problems.
