Scsi
I had a power issue and my IBM M10 server went down. I am having a few issues in getting the system up. Some notes about teh system:
RAID 5 configuration Running Gentoo Original PERC2 SCSI adabptor and have added an IBM adaptor Receive the following errors with IBM adaptor (this was set with data from drives) SCSI BIOS not installed Receive the following errors with PERC2 adaptor (this was set with data from drives) SCSI BIOS not installed NVRAM devise mismatch Problem is I can not get the system to see the logical drive. All the drives are offline. When I configured teh IBM adabtor it spun the drives. I have alot of data on the drives so I ether need to get it right or at least back the data up (which I do not know who to do) PLEASE help anyone! |
When you boot the system have you gone into the RAID controllers BIOS to ensure the arrays are still defined and configured ? You may need to utilize a recovery service if multiple drives are offline.

Seen but offline
They show up on the configuration but are shown as being offline.
I get errors after using CTL-I for the IBM adaptor which is for setting up the adabtors 'mini- configuration' program as follows: 1 logical Drives found on host adaptor 1 logical drive(s) Failed 1 Logical Drive(s) handeled by Bios |
I'm not a expert on IBM stuff, but I had a similar problem which almost turned me crazy.
For me was the problem that the power supply of the computer was after the power surge somehow changed, the motherboard did function normal. But when I try to connect my hard drives it did not see them or I get weird errors. Most IBM M10 server have only a 350 Watt power supply, this with two SCSI raid cards connected to 4 SCSI hard drives can be maybe a bit to much for a power supply. My advice is check the power supply........ |
