Screwed w2k partitions!
 

Can anyone advise me please ? I've got a 60gig drive, with 4 partitions of 10gigs each, the remaining space left empty for linux. Whilst trying to get a working Red Hat 9 today, it totally screwed the fat partitions and now shows the whole 60gigs drive as 'bad' in partition manager. I can still access the folders and file on the 60gig drive under w2k but am unable to repair the partitions. What the hell do I do ? :(

Luckily I can still use the rest of the other 2 hard drives, but am now very wary of the 3rd hard drive (the 60gig one). Apart from moving all data off the said drive, is there any way in which I can recover the partition info and so that it will show as 'good' in partition manager - preferably without repartioning the drive.

Help anyone ?

At this point I would not take any chances. Back up your data. Then repartition and reformat your windows partitions. If you can not back up your data to another drive, then I would suggest that you wipe your linux partition , reformat it to fat32 or NTFS, copy your data to it then repartition and reformat your windows partitions. After that copy your data back to where it was at first. Then delete the fat32 or NTFS partition you made and reinstall Linux.

you better back everything up--lucky you haven't lost it all already. if you are low on space CR-R's are really cheap.
